The Complete List of Squarespace 7.0 Templates

Squarespace version 7.0 has 22 template families and 121 named templates, of which 32 are discontinued. Ten families contain multiple templates; twelve contain exactly one, so the family name and the template name are the same thing. A further 18 discontinued templates predate the family system entirely and belong to no family.

This page is the inventory: every name, its family, its status. If you want to know what each family can do — index pages, banners, blog layouts, commerce — that is the Squarespace 7.0 template comparison chart.

Squarespace 7.0 templates at a glance

Two caveats on that total. Squarespace's family guides list currently-documented members, and its discontinued guide lists retirements; a handful of templates appear in both, and Fulton appears only in the discontinued guide despite belonging to Pacific. The 121 figure merges the two sources and is the most complete count we can defend. Where a name is genuinely ambiguous, this page says so rather than guessing.

Note on Fulton. Squarespace's discontinued guide places Fulton in the Pacific family, but the Pacific family guide does not list it. We have counted it as Pacific on the strength of the discontinued guide, which is the more specific source.

What each Squarespace 7.0 family was designed for

Useful when you are deciding which family to switch to, and when you are trying to work out why an inherited 7.0 site behaves the way it does. These are Squarespace's own descriptions, condensed.

Two of these are worth flagging because they are outliers. York is the only 7.0 family with project pages, a page type built specifically for showing individual pieces of creative work; they convert to portfolio pages if you switch template or update to 7.1. Aviator is the only family with info pages, which do not transfer to any other template or to 7.1 at all.

Discontinued Squarespace 7.0 templates outside any family

Eighteen retired templates predate the family system and appear only in Squarespace's discontinued templates guide. Squarespace still documents their style options there, but they have no family guide and no family name.

If your Squarespace 7.0 site is running one of these, it is a genuinely old build — most were retired between 2012 and 2015. The site still works, and Squarespace still documents its style tweaks, but there is no family guide to fall back on and no other template shares its code.

Every discontinued Squarespace 7.0 template, by date

Thirty-two templates in total. Squarespace's position on all of them is the same: "Your site will stay online, and you can continue to use and edit the template as you've always been able to."

June 2017 was the single biggest cull: the entire Marquee family in one go, plus Taylor. Nothing was retired in 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, 2025 or so far in 2026.

Discontinued does not mean broken. It means no longer available for installation. Squarespace adds that a discontinued template "may receive our latest features and functionality, as well as fixes for any critical issue that may arise, but this is not guaranteed for every template we've retired."

Discontinued does mean irreversible if you uninstall it. The switching guide is explicit: "Before you uninstall a template, ensure it isn't discontinued. If it's discontinued, you won't be able to reinstall it." Switching away is safe. Uninstalling is not. Leave the original in the Template panel.

Can you still get Squarespace 7.0 templates?

Two different questions, with two different answers.

On an existing 7.0 site: yes. Open Design → Template → Install new template and you can install any of the 89 templates that are not discontinued, preview it against your content, and set it live. Squarespace states that you "can install, preview, and switch templates at any time, as many times as you'd like", with one copy of each template.

On a new site: no. In August 2026 we checked the URL Squarespace's own Help Center still gives as the "version 7.0 template store" — squarespace.com/templates/browse/v7. Every one of the 198 templates it returns is a version 7.1 design. There is no public route left to start a fresh trial on a 7.0 template.

The remaining exception is duplication. Squarespace documents that duplicating a version 7.0 site "creates a new version 7.0 website with the same site content and an identical design". So a new 7.0 site is technically still possible, but only as a copy of one you already own, and the duplicate is a new trial with no orders, analytics or domain.

The template store closed. The template switcher did not.

How to find which of these templates your site uses

Three methods, in order of reliability.

Design → Template, with the Live label, is the only method that returns the individual template. It is definitive and takes about fifteen seconds. Note that the panel lists every template ever installed on the site, not only the active one.

The bottom of the Pages panel shows version 7.0 plus the family name.

The page source returns the family only. Every 7.0 site reports "templateVersion":"7" — not "7.0" — alongside a templateId that identifies the family rather than the template. Bedford, Anya, Bryant and Hayden all return 52a74dafe4b073a80cd253c5; all 47 Brine templates return 55f0aac0e4b0f0a5b7e0b22e. The full verified ID-to-family lookup, tested against every official demo site in August 2026, is in the Squarespace template detector guide.

If none of this resolves it, how to tell what Squarespace template you're using works through the edge cases, including sites that have been through the 7.1 update and no longer have a template name at all.

Which of these templates people actually run in 2026

Two patterns worth knowing before you spend time on this list.

Brine dominates. Forty-seven of the 121 templates are Brine family, and because they share code, a Brine site built in 2018 on Mojave is byte-for-byte the same platform as one built on Wav. Most 7.0 sites still trading are Brine, Bedford or York. The Brine family guide covers what all 47 share.

Search by family, not by template. Because family members share code and class names, the family name is the search term that returns usable results. "Brine header CSS" finds hundreds of working snippets; "Mercer header CSS" finds almost nothing, and the two templates are the same code. The same applies to Squarespace's own documentation: there is no Mercer guide, only a Brine guide. If your template is in a single-template family — Adirondack, Avenue, Five, Flatiron, Forte, Galapagos, Ishimoto, Momentum, Native, Supply, Wells or Wexley — the two names are identical and this problem does not arise.

7.0 is now the minority. Across 54 Squareko-built client sites measured in August 2026 (Playwright/Chromium lab test, cloud datacenter, unthrottled, single run per site), 53 of 54 run Squarespace 7.1. That is a sample of sites we built, so it is not a platform-wide figure — but the direction is not in doubt.

Squarespace has announced no end-of-life date for version 7.0, and its update guide states plainly that "Updating your site from version 7.0 to 7.1 is optional." Whether old Squarespace templates are still supported covers what that means in practice.

If you have found your template on this list, discovered it is discontinued, and are now weighing whether to convert the site or rebuild it, the answer usually turns on how much Custom CSS the site carries and how much of the layout you still want — which is a judgement about your site rather than a lookup. That is where a rebuild on a premium Squarespace template tends to come up. Most people reading this page need the name and the status, and nothing else on it.
